Good point.
I had a Linksys router on the other side of the modem get fried a couple
of years back (along with my home alarm, my wireless phone [base] and
various other things) but the Motorola survived it without a problem.
Of course nowadays I put everything on a UPS that guarantees not to fry
things on the outlets that use the battery rather than just surge
suppression.

I agree, the moto is fine, I've been on the same Moto for 3 years. It
works well, & hasn't been fried by thunder like many xDSL modems I've
had.

I've been using a Motorola (which is the same one the cable companies
rent or at least used to) for several years and have been happy with it.

After many fights with AT&T I"m going to switch to Comcast. I want to
buy my own modem. Any suggestions as to the best choices. Microcenter
has the Zoom in stock. I used to use zoom modems way back when we
thought 2400 baud was fast. :)
I'm finding I'm need a bit more bandwidth than I"m getting through AT&T
for the work I'm doing on my disertation.
