[ale] OT: Facebook and Social networking: Tim Berners-Lee closes the stable door after the horse has bolted

After fighting back on the Facebook discussion, I wanted to assert that I'm
aware of the problems it presents. Nobody has offered better criticisms than
Tim Berners-Lee. I hope that some of the Facebook and Twitter open
alternatives make a dent. Although I'm not terribly optimistic about it.
Social networks serve a real purpose. That's why they're thriving. Now if we
can just steer them in a better direction!
