Don't pay $140 for that guy. We got ours from dealextreme.com for
about $100 shipped.
Does it suck? Yes and no. It is actually 350mhz, not 600. The
display isn't great and it uses an old school digitizer, so it works
much better with a stylus than your finger. I've also been
disappointed in the aftermarket firmware support (maybe the G1 spoiled
me). There was a lot of enthusiasm when this tablet went on sale 4-5
months ago for 100 bucks. 2 lightly tweaked firmwares were released
and it has stagnated ever since.
I think it is a fine little device for what it does and how much it
costs. It is fine for email, light surfing, and is a pretty good ebook
reader. I much prefer reading on my Sony reader, but a tablet will
work in the dark...
The $150 kmart tablet has much better specs and is probably worth the
extra $50. It has more ram, much faster CPU, and a proper touch screen.
I think the 7 inch tablet is going to end up being the sweet spot
for tablet size. It is small enough for me to palm in one hand and is
lighter than the ipad. The 10 inch tablet is just a bit too big and
the 5 inch tablets aren't much bigger than the newest android phones.
Does anyone else think the ipad is too heavy? It is about 4 times as
heavy as my Sony PRS-300, I can't imagine holding it in one hand to
read 60 or so pages (not screens, book pages) in on sitting.
