[ale] recommended webcam ?

Thanks for your reply.

I have a small LAN at home and have been requested by a couple of Canadian 
friends to get a webcam so we can have visually enhanced conversations from 
time to time
and don't know how to do this, so don't know what I should get. I do have 
USB ports available and have the small LAN, so, please tell me what you
think  :-)  and recommend.

Also some sort of VOIP with video would be nice if the cost is minimal. I've 
never done this so don't know how to proceed yet.

What will you use it for? USB or network? I've got a bunch of
Panasonic BL-C1A netcams (the ones that bellsouth gave away to all
their DSL subscribers) that I got from friends and Ebay'ers who didn't
realize that you can reflash the firmware. I've wrote lots of little
scripts and web apps to fit my custom needs. Baby monitor etc.
