[ale] Help me resurrect my cable modem

If a tree falls and pushes the HV power lines into the cable, cable
modems die a horrible death (the smoke gets out).

The "firmware" on the device is usually handled by the cable company.
If you bought your own cable modem (Linksys brand suggests that's the
case) it's time to fork out another $75.
