DC404 is primarily focused on "information security/pen testing". There were more presenters from DC404 at DefCon last year than any other organization. This year DC404 made a bid to be the designers of the DefCon capture the flag competition.

Meetings are held on the third Saturday of every month in the back room of the Vortex. Generally there is a presentation given at each meeting that has been or will be given at conferences such as BlackHat, Defcon, ShmooCon, and Outerz0ne.

There may be other members of DC404 who are interested in DVR/PVR technology but I rather doubt they would suspend a regular meeting in lieu of a MythTV install fest as it is outside the charter for the group.

In my case if I have to choose between a DC404 meeting and a MythTV install fest I would choose DC404 as it relates to my job and MythTV is more of a hobby. In the past I was a member of SMPTE and helped develop recording platforms for use on submarines and for NAVAIR so it is a serious hobby.
