if it were me i would comment it out and also run Clonezilla to make a
backup image of the partitions.  You might also want to consider making
a copy of the menu.lst that keeps the entry uncommented and name it
menu.lst.oops.

my thinking is that it's much easier to have them rename a file than
edit one.
