Yes. LVM generates it's own UUID strings (they are longer that the
hardware ones). I _think_ it uses the hardware UUID for the physical
drive as a "seed" for the generator. I glanced too briefly at that the
docs and code to be sure (it worked so I kept going..). Note the lvm
UUID is NOT hex values but the physical UID is hex.
