I noticed that problem as well on my Dell laptop when I upgraded from
Fedora 9 to Fedora 10. I was able to load the grub menu as I at least
had the grub command line and then just re-ran the grub install on the
harddrive and after that it was fine. Just like you though I didn't
stick with it long and I've since done a complete re-install and put
Ubuntu on.
