well, my issue was more cockpit error.. seems I had made a small adjustment in
the linksys.. what i thought was to ENABLE some ports, 21-23, was actually a
rule to disable them...
so now ftp works, but my original problem exists, which is me NOT being able
to use putty or winscp from my laptop to my Debian desktop.
with the linksys my network changed from 192.168.10.1 to 192.168.2.100 .

back to the linksys, why did you switch from the stock firmware to tomato and
what did you gain??
