[ale] What Do You Think About Cable vs DSL Now-a-Days?

For cable I've found shutting down (rather than just putting on standby) the cable modem for a few hours periodically (every few days) seems to keep it from getting the incredible slowness that Comcast always denies is occurring when they look at it.  I don't know if it makes the script kiddies lose interest or what but it definitely seems to help.  

Of course if I were serving anything out to the internet that might be a problem.

Funny thing is often I see missed call from Comcast when I get home - I suspect they detect the disconnect and are trying to figure out what happened.  Since they don't help when I do call I figure wasting their time when I'm not around is a plus.

I've got cable in the Smyrna area.

During the business day, it flies, so working from home is great.  I
often put in an hour or two from home, then drive to the office.

During the evenings, its downright slow.  Good excuse not to work from
home at night.  If I have to I've been known to fire up my verizon
cell service and use my laptop instead of my desktop machine.

So you really need to think of the time of day you'll be using the
connection and how that fits with the other users.  You really want to
avoid being part of the crowd.
