[ale] Awk as a programming language

I agree, I've used Awk to parse large mainframe reports with dozens of
tables included in the overall report.

The awk script kept growing in complexity and was hundreds of lines of
code long at the end.

We had subroutines, local variables, etc.

Definitely a programing language.
