Ok, I take it back, apparently Verizon does not allow port 119 on an
aircard, because tin -r nntp://news.gmane.org/gmane.org.user-groups.ale
yeilds nothing.
But - I did find snownews - an rss reader, for the console. :) Except I
guess rss feeds are read-only and non-threaded. That's why I like mutt b/c
it threads everything correctly.
I think probably one of the most annoying things about using all microsoft
at work - is the lack of decent message threading in Outlook. Outlook's
'Conversations' seem to be based only on the subject line instead of the
message headers - and just doesn't work right.
But - back to the topic at hand - maybe a mailing list that doesn't send -
use the gmane that's already setup for ale to provide rss and NNTP, and
just turn off the mail part, so that it's pull only instead of push
and won't clog your inbox?
