Thanks to all for the great ideas.  I'm out of town now, but will try some of the ideas this weekend.  Actually, after reading all the posts, I wonder if the best thing to do with this laptop is turn it into a thin client; it's only a PI, 128 MB RAM system, but otherwise in good condition.  If I could get it to boot initially off of the floppy and then boot as a thin client using a PCMCIA ethernet adapter, that would only cost $25 bucks and would make it totally usable.  But does a boot floppy that works with a PCMCIA ethernet card exist?  We used universal boot floppies at Brandon Elementary for older NICs that could not PXE boot and it worked quite well, but I wonder it it supports PCMCIA network adapters?
