I know it is late and you already have gotten the info you need. But I
have found this very usefull if it can be done easily with Ubuntu. It
works great if the software is already installed in windows. This is
VNC server. It can be run and then the person you want to help just
opens and adds you ass a client. They put in your IP address and you
have VNC viewer running in listen mode. Keep in mind that it is not an
encrypted connection. but the person you are helping doesn't need to
know that much.
Another thing I have done to get a WAN IP address when I don't have
wget, a browser or other tool.
1. login to a server over ssh. Log out and then back in and I get my
last login location.
2. Generate some traffic to a remote firewall that I can watch the logs
on. Then scan the logs for that traffic.
