Yep... just about everything does, save for the proprietary blobs. I
haven't run into any 64-bit weirdness in the open-source software stack
in a while, probably because Linux and software targeted at it tends to
be platform-agnostic, and so it tries not to assume things like the size
of the architecture.
How the binary is compiled will determine what registers can be
accessed, not necessarily how the program is written.
