[ale] Running like a thin client after boot up in Xubuntu

Yep. Your looking at a remote X arrangement. Basically the X server starts
and tries to connect to a remote machine for everything. In Login Window
Preferences go to Security and click on "Configure X Server".
Then change server to start from Standard to Chooser.
