[ale] old hardware

Supercalc!

In a prior incarnation I was an accountant who loved Lotus 123 and
Symphony. I had a boss who brought in Supercalc for his own PC. Once
when speaking to another department head in my presence he was asked
"What is Supercalc." I quickly butted in saying "It's a communist plot
to reduce our technological superiority."

My boss tried to say there was nothing Lotus could do that he couldn't
do with Supercalc. When I used Lotus Symphony as a terminal emulator to
login to the UNIX property management system he finally had to admit
there were things Supercalc couldn't do. *Big Evil Grin*

I've got an '82 Compupro 8085/88 that still runs Supercalc and Dbase.
The
external 40MB harddrive with it's power supply encased in a steel case,
weighs approx. 50 pounds and cost over $5K at that time. It uses 8"
floppies
which are not as easy to find as of old :-)
