I had bought a Dell PowerEdge 1400 Server back in the fall of 2000 and I 
remember having 3 choices:
1. Win2K Server Preinstalled
2. Red Hat (I don'[t remember version) Preinstalled
3. All drives blank no OS installed

I can't say too much as to the support of Linux was then. Didn't use it.
