I forgot that I upgraded to my new PC in December, and I forgot about
rootkithunter.
so I downloaded it and tried to run the script they show on the web site.
when i run it I get this, and I'm not sure why or how to fix it:
# sh -x dorootkithunter
+ /usr/local/bin/rkhunter $'\342\200\223\342\200\223versioncheck'
+ /bin/mail $'\342\200\223s' $'\342\200\231rkhunter' $'output\342\200\231' pbc
?s contains invalid character '\342'
?rkhunter contains invalid character '\342'
output? contains invalid character '\342'
+ /usr/local/bin/rkhunter $'\342\200\223\342\200\223update'
+ /usr/local/bin/rkhunter $'\342\200\223\342\200\223cronjob'
$'\342\200\223\342\200\223report-warnings-only'
cat dorootkithunter
#!/bin/sh
(
/usr/local/bin/rkhunter ??versioncheck
/usr/local/bin/rkhunter ??update
/usr/local/bin/rkhunter ??cronjob ??report-warnings-only
) | /bin/mail ?s ?rkhunter output? pbc
what does it all mean???
