At one point evolution data was moved from ~/.evolution to ~/evolution.
My current setup (FC5) uses the ~/.evolution.
Inside I have ~/.evolution/mail/local which is where all my stuff is.

That is the evolution listing for the ale folder. In order to migrate
from one machine to another, I think all you need to do copy the ale
file to the new machines ~/.evolution/mail/local folder (with evolution
closed!!!) and then start up evolution. The other files will be
generated. Be prepared to wait a long time if you have _large_ files to
migrate.
My calendar data is in ~/.evolution/calendar/local/system/
and currently looks like:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jkinney jkinney 427336 Jun 4 12:40 calendar.ics
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jkinney jkinney 80471 Oct 11 2004
calendar.ics-pilot-sync-evolution-calendar-0.db
-rw------- 1 jkinney jkinney 482347 Apr 16 11:42
calendar.ics-pilot-sync-evolution-calendar-500.db
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jkinney jkinney 39906 Oct 11 2004
calendar.ics-pilot-sync-evolution-calendar-6197.db
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jkinney jkinney 99802 Oct 11 2004
pilot-map-calendar-0.xml
-rw------- 1 jkinney jkinney 87633 Apr 16 11:42
pilot-map-calendar-500.xml
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jkinney jkinney 50787 Oct 11 2004
pilot-map-calendar-6197.xml
(Note the multiple pilot-sync files. RH/Fedora badly broke pilot sync
around FC3 - Grr.)
Again all that should be needed is to move the calendar.ics file.
