[ale] CIFS <-> NFS bridge?

What about debugging a direct samba connection to the CIFS server? A quick
look at the various samba threads out there show lots of discussion of
moving files around in excess of 2GB and notably due to issues with the file
size?

Notably the use of smbclient directly solves the problem (scripting it for
your needs on the client boxes?) or the use of the -lfs flag for large
files?
