[ale] ntp for debian workstation

ntpdate periodically checks a for a new delta?  That's news to me.  I
thought you'd have to cron it if you want that.  I run the ntpd not to
service other clients but rather so that it regularly checks the time
servers to be sure time doesn't drift.

That is what I suggest for a workstation. There isn't much point in
running an NTP server to synchronize your desktop clock. ntpdate is
very easy to configure. It runs on boot and periodically checks for a
new delta.
