there's a hidden directory on the iPod that contains everything - already
busted up into mini directories (with compressed names). I don't recall the
name - but it's something like 'music'

you can copy that folder onto your machine (and presuming you're using
itunes), import the folder into itunes, then sync your new ipod.

it's a little kludgey, but works
