[ale] Debian apache 2.2 help needed

I have apache 2.2 on FC6. I'd have the module loaded by default, and make
sure

   -  Indexes not listed as one of the OPTIONS for <Directory> section
   for the DocumentRoot
   - Do have 'Option Indexes' for a specific directory.
