The first time in October it was a file under the Oracle binaries
directory.

This most recent time it was /usr/share/emacs/21.3/lisp/toolbar
(actually that's the directory - I didn't try to do ls on it to see if
it would hang on a specific file). From my point of view this is "part
of the Linux distro" in that it came in with my original install rather
than as part of the Oracle install.

The latter is in /usr filesystem. /dev/sda6
The former was in /opt/oracle filesystem. /dev/sda5.

Both are partitions of the same Dell PERC (Hardware) RAID 5 device.
They are different sizes (5 GB and 12 GB respectively) and are both
ext3.

Not really seeing any disk issues in general in demsg or messages.

What is the file, where is it located? Is is part of the Linux distro
or some application?
