Here are the instructions for "Fixing" the problem for my 7130cxi. I
imagine yours will be similar.
1. On your priniter, press the < and > arrows at the same time, then release
2. On the keypad type 7 8 9 in order.
3. When the prompt appears press 1 for YES
On the colorheads repeat step 1 but simply type 4 5 6 for step 2.
Tell us if it works!

Of all the low down, rat fink, dirty scum-bag....
HP has now put in an expiration date in the ink cartridges so the
printer quits working if you haven't replaced the cartridges in several
months.
I have a very expensive multi-function HP OfficeJet 9300 that uses
separate ink tanks and separate print heads. The ink tanks STILL HAVE
INK!!!
GRRRRRRRRR.
