[ale] OT: Stupid Windows Trick

Thanks for the post.  They explain it but don't explain "why" they
wouldn't have had it resolve localhost properly.  If it doesn't use it
then why does it resolve anything at all?

 

Saying it is by design reminds me of a person who stumbles and suddenly
starts a little jog to cover for it.  "I didn't stumble - I just
suddenly felt like running."  :-)

Localhost = 127.0.0.1 i.e. the host you're on.   If you ping localhost
that's the IP you see.   
Also if I do the net view without specifying a host the list that comes
up of all computer has no localhost entries.
 
Maybe the subject should have just been "Stupid Windows".


According to Microsoft, their strange behavior for this command is "by
design."
