[ale] Need ideas on how to maintian /etc/crontab

Interesting, I've been working with Unix systems for over 20 years and I 
never knew about cron.d.  I've had a working Linux system since 1992.  
Kernel version 0.12.  

So an old dog can learn new tricks.
