Looks like "LiveID" is just a rebranding of the wildly unpopular
MS-Passport, perhaps with the intent to have consumers confuse it with
the name "OpenID", but probably just to conform with the rest of their
"Windows Live" noise.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Live_ID

By the way, did you end up selecting an openID provider?
