With regards to memtest86 vs memtest86+ try to go with memtest86+ (from
memtest.org).
I believe memtest86 is a dead project that hasn't been updated since around
Nov 04.
I don't know the whole story but Memtest86+ is under active development and
supports
newer hardware (chipsets, dual channel) The 3.2 software is the old stuff
and the 1.65 is
the latest and greatest.

Just a random thought.
