Also, try moving the cablemodem away from your router / PC's.  Back when 
I was a Comcast customer, I had a problem with interference with my 
netgear router (or it may have been a vonage "modem" or an IPCOP pc -- 
it's been too long that I don't remember exactly what the network config 
was back then). Moving the cablemodem a foot or two away solved the 
cable flakiness (I think we were seeing lots of packet loss).
