I just wanted to pass along this info.

This weekend I bought a USB to SATA/IDE converter from Delta Computers
near I-285 & PIB. Using it I was able to mount an NTFS formatted SATA
hard drive and recover a bunch of iTunes files for someone, whereas
WinXP would BSOD if the drive was even accessed. Linux just reported
the bad blocks, marked them, and moved on to the next files. All in all
I recovered 2054 files and only 32 could not be recovered.

It costs ~$30 and comes with a power cable and adapters to power the
hard drive, and Linux easily recognizes with the usb-storage module.
The rep at Delta Computers said they had just got them in, and had about
25 on the shelf behind the counter. Best money I spent this
weekend. ;-)
