[ale] Can't print some PDFs

When you say "flashy,"  do those pdf's have anything odd embedded in
them?  Also,  how are you trying to print them?  Are you using lpr
from a shell, or are you printing from an application?  Under various
flavors of RedHat I have experienced HP laserjets hanging when I tried
to lpr pdf's over the network.
