Not that anyone on this list would EVER let precious silicon out of thier
hands, but the City of Atlanta has set up an electronics recycling
collection, tomorrow Saturday May 6, at Turner Field.
If you can get items to my house near GaTech by 11am tomorrow morning, I'm
taking stuff from my neighborhood down there, so bring it on by.
10 Berkeley Ave, NW - top of the hill, right off Howell Mill (behind fire
station)

*On Saturday, May 6th the City of Atlanta will have hold an Electronic Waste

Residents and employees of the City are asked to bring their old household
computers and electronic equipment to this massive recycling event. The
first 100 cars will receive a gift certificate from Best Buy.
This is the fourth year the City of Atlanta has hosted this E-Waste

phones, stereos, televisions and other electronic items were recycled.

*Carla Smith*, The City of Atlanta *Department of Public Works*, * Advanced

Atlanta Beautiful*, *Turner Field*, and *Best Buy*.
*The City will recycle anything and everything that plugs in* *with a couple
of exceptions* * in an effort to encourage proper disposal of electronic
waste ? whether the electronic device works of not!
The goal of this initiative is to promote the recovery, reuse and recycling
of obsolete electronic equipment, and to encourage the design, manufacture
and purchase of environmentally responsible electronic equipment.
The electronics industry is one of the fastest growing and most innovative
industries in the world. Every year newer and better products are being sold
consumers. It is estimated that in 2005 alone, nearly 300 million
computers, 250 million cell phones, and countless millions of other
electronics discarded.
Electronics account for up to 5% of landfill volume, but contributes up to
70% of the toxins found in landfills.
