[ale] Can only login as root user

Hi Bjorn,

Thanks for the direction.  I looked at the var/log/message
file and found the first instance where I could not log in. 
The first lines of that transaction were:

Up to this point, nothing in the log indicated that the system
was looking for pam_ldap.  I am guessing that my udpating
changed PAM and this is the problem.
