I have BS DSL and I am using a Westell Wirespeed modem, I think the 
model is 890, or B90.. I can't see up close real well.
I use the web interface, 192.168.1.1
the problem was when I added the netgear router, it also wanted the 
same web IP address, so I had to unplug the modem to talk to the 
router, then changed the router address to 192.168.10.1
