Shouldn't be. The case on the drive is grounded so that should dissipate
any "floating" charges. It is concievable that a potential could be
generated between to adjacent points on the electronics board but the
likelyhood is very small. I can't see it happening without a deliberate
attempt to inject charged particles into the air stream. As long as the
airstream is relatively clean (i.e. not a dog/cat fur stream with air
for lubricant - like my house :) the frictional creation of static is
just not an issue _inside_ the case as everything is surrounded by metal
(which won't build up a static charge well).
