Yeah, it is okay for most of that. The worst thing about it (and
Evolution, incidentally) is that they use the mbox format for saving
messages, which was one of the reasons that I moved away from
Thunderbird when I was using KDE. Now that my message load isn't so
high, it doesn't make much of a difference any longer, but still...
*shrugs*.

I am still undecided as to what I am going to do. For the moment, I
filed a few feature requests to Evolution, though one was already
rejected?apparently there is no sound character set detection mechanisms
available or writable. I thought that detecting character sets would be
somewhat trivialish based on the content of a given message and the
ability to find what characters aren't ASCII and attempting to make
sense of them based on context, but I could be wrong on that. I also
submitted a feature request for per-account HTML settings, as I am
supposed to use HTML mail for all the school's stuff, but I have mixed
feelings about using it elsewhere. *shrugs*

The only other thing I really need to do is a little more research on
finding a "jump to the next unread" message. What stinks is that the
way that it is set up, I can "get by" with showing all threads, but then
I have to find where the new messages are, which is kind of annoying.
There is a "Previous message" and a "next message" button, but those
don't take into consideration whether or not the previous or next
message is read or not?and that is really annoying.

Anyway, I may or may not jump over to Thunderbird. Ease of use for me
is becoming more and more of a priority then it ever used to be, and
that means that the less programs I am using, the better. It would seem
that the days of me wanting to get in front of the computer to tinker
endlessly with it are over, I just want to get my work done. :-P

Kontact does seem to have a "leg up" on Evolution, in some ways, though
it lacks certain features that Evolution has as well. It is interesting
how open source software provides you with a wide array of choices, but
in some fields, (PIM, being one of them right now) there isn't a
"perfect" solution that I have found yet. Hopefully, that will change
in the next year or so. PIM is, at least to me, quite important, simply
because I do not have my head on straight many days and if it weren't
for a good calendaring solution, I don't know that I would remember to
do much of anything! :-)
