[ale] sync desktop and OS X laptop?

I have rsync and psyncx that I have been using to backup to a  
firewire drive but I am wondering about the differences between the  
apps that I need to synchronize.   On Ubuntu I have installed Kmail  
and on the mac Apples Mail app.  Can the file that contains the  
mailbox for each of these be synced?
