So far, my attempts at VMs in VMs have not worked well, caveat being 
that what I had was Intel x86 3.2GHz HT -> Gentoo Linux -> VMware 
Workstation -> WinXP -> MS Virtual PC.

Ran it for a half hour and it still hadn't finished POSTing.  VMware 
guys on IRC said that that was to be expected; don't do that. :)
