Strange problem. Suspicious of hard drive error status. Check logs for
hard drive errors.

When /boot starts getting full, removing the oldest kernels and editing
the /boot/grub/grub.conf file is all you really need to do.

Try running "rpm -qa | grep kernel > /tmp/kernellist" and then check the
file. There may be a typo in the kernel build naming (doubtful).
Manually download the kernel rpm and reinstall it using rpm -ivh <foo>
--force

If the /boot is on it's own partition, you may need to check for an
inode shortage issue on that partition.
