I am actually using letter - sorry, I was trying various options and
I pasted the command with the A4 option.
The actual command is
/usr/bin/lpr -P HPOffJet4200
The problem is not related to image files as I am having problem even
with small text files.
I am using cups....
when I use the print command this is the process I see
dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 8 --print-address 6 --session
When the printing starts after 45 sec I see the below processes - the
process exits/finishes
lp 25401 3638 0 19:42 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/perl
/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip 42 <user_id> [ale] ALE picnic 1
scaling=100 cpi=12 lpi=7 wrap
lp 25403 25401 0 19:42 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/perl
/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip 42 <user_id> [ale] ALE picnic 1
scaling=100 cpi=12 lpi=7 wrap
lp 25404 25403 0 19:42 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/perl
/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip 42 <user_id> [ale] ALE picnic 1
scaling=100 cpi=12 lpi=7 wrap
About firefox - it is not taking 100% of CPU as I can easily switch
among other apps and work on them without any problems.
James - There are 135 files/dirs/links in my home directory - this could
be the cause.. i'll try your solution
