[ale] gmail losing e-mail?

I'm on an lsoft list that had a rash of duplicate messages two days ago. 
What was strange was that each subscriber got radically differing amounts 
of duplicates. From none to over a dozen copies of each message.

Don't see how this could be connected to gmail losing mail???
