The --recheck option tells it to reprobe the BIOS devices in case
anything has changed.  It gets that list from /etc/mtab, IIRC.  I've not
used software RAID with GRUB or anything else for that matter, so that's
starting to fall out of my territory a little bit.  I'd have put /boot
on its own, non-RAIDed, partition.
