I just converted my mother-in-law from dialup to dsl. She was on SuSE
8.2 with dialup, and it was working fine. I simply configured it as
you've outlined. The one thing that bothered me was that it would not
dial on demand. I had to select the kinternet icon, then it would dial
on demand. That's pretty much it. If you're not getting connected,
right click on the kinternet icon and select the logs option. One of
the problems I've had in the past is that I had to create a chat script
for the connect. That was not the case on my mom-in-law's though. In
summary, you click on the kinternet icon, (it changes color I believe),
then open email client or browser and you'll hear the modem dial.

Sometimes the browser would load a 'not found' page, but if you hit
reload, it would load fine.
