[ale] ThinkPad sound working

Just some quick words before I run off to work -- LinuxPackages.net
has Slackware packages... and Bob:  I use 2.4 on my server, but 2.6
has a lot of improvements that make it handy on a desktop,
specifically, they have different schedulers and different "classes"
of multitasking that you can use to make it all work, and better.  2.6
is worth it for a desktop system, though I would not make the switch
on my server because the server has no need for any of the
improvements offered in 2.6.  If you're using Slackware 10.1 or
-current, you can just build a 2.6 kernel and drop it in.  If you'd
like I can send you a .config over the next week or so, if you'll send
me the output of 'lspci' and tell me what options (fb and the like)
you'd want.  I have a 2.6 tree that I'm always building with the
latest version, so I don't have to download it or anything like that.
