I once had someone try to pull that garbage on me when I was a
SysAdmin on contract to Nedlloyd Lines in Atlanta.

I explained to them that the contract specified that they would
provide competent resources and adequate spare parts and that if
they didn't show up within just a few hours and successfully fixed
the printer, that I'd advise our Contracts department that they were
in Breach of Contract!

That was that!
