If you are talking about the IDE controller not supporting 48-bit LBA
and thus wrapping on itself, then I have seen that problem as well,
but not in this case.
The problem I had was exclusive to FAT32 under 2.4.x. ie. I used the
same hardware, but with ext2 and it worked fine.
Also, with 2.6.8 from SUSE 9.2 and the same hardware, it worked fine with FAT32.
