There are some tools to let you write to an ntfs filesystem, but they
are all rather experimental and come with warnings that say "DON'T USE
THIS" all over the documentation. ntfs is very much a product of
Microsoft and they guard it very closely. They have to. If Linux can
ever be able to do successful read/writes to ntfs filesystems that
Windows is still able to use with its "security model", A. the security
model is totally blown and B. Samba will totally kick M$ in the balls.

In short, there are some ntfs tools, but they must be compiled into a
kernel module and loaded in order to be used at all. If the ntfs system
uses the crypto fileset, you will ruin the filesystem if you write
anything to the drive.
